Green Screen Photography and Robots

Green Screen Photography and Robots

It’s been an interesting week at Mid-America Photo Booth. I just wrapped up a 3-day engagement at the FIRST Championships held at America’s Center in Downtown St. Louis. National Instruments hired me to run a photobooth in their vendor booth, but this was no average booth. They wanted greenscreen… and they were making buttons out of the prints. The green screen photos were tons of fun, but I have no interest in making buttons after seeing how much work they put in to keep up with demand.

Anyway, this has led me to decide that I will start offering greenscreen photography as an optional upgrade. It will only be available with the open photo tower and I have not decided on a price yet, since I will have to buy some extra equipment and there will be extra time involved in the setup (time is money), not to mention that everyone will want a copy of every photo they are in, so I’ll need to account for extra printing costs. Stay tuned for more info, but for now you can check out the photos from this week

Speaking of robots… I almost forgot, because I didn’t get to see any of the competitions. The FIRST Robotics Championships were the real reason I was there. Our booth was in the middle of the pit area where teams of high school kids from all over the world were tuning and testing the robots they built for this year’s challenge. The National Instruments (NI)crew was there mainly to provide tech support for the teams who were using NI’s products in their robots.  The photo above is three of my main button-making crew, and the next photo is a group of NI staff who worked as tech volunteers for the competitions.

Crystal & William’s Carnival Themed Reception

Crystal & William’s Carnival Themed Reception

Here’s a fun idea for any party, not just wedding receptions… Carnival. Crystal and William had a destination wedding, then had their reception back home in Granite City, IL. Crystal’s mother Judi put together a fun DIY carnival themed reception.
There was a kissing booth, games for the kids, and carnie food for dinner; hot dogs, burgers, corn dogs and multicolored cupcakes for dessert. Of course she had a photo booth, DJ and a bar, but just about everything else was done by the family.

Photo Booths are showing up in more and more places in film and tv, as well as print ads for major fashion brands. I just found this YouTube video teaser for the upcoming American Pie sequel, “American Reunion” coming out in 2012.
